The original trust was created in 1946 to assist elderly Friends and long-term Attenders with the costs of residential care. Although we still help to meet that need, we also try to help those who wish to remain in their own home or in supported accommodation.
Trustees are appointed by the seven London Area Meetings and from Swarthmore Housing Society. Trustees meet 3 times per year to consider new applications and to check whether needs have changed for those who are currently receiving a Bursary.
The Trust relies upon funds from donations, grants and legacies plus gifts from Local and Area Meetings.
Please support us in these particularly difficult times.
The Trust can offer financial assistance to elderly Friends, long standing Attenders and former employees of The Religious Society of Friends if they require our financial support.
We can do this in the following ways …
By offering a quarterly Bursary. One Trustee is assigned as a Friend in Touch, for each beneficiary.
By helping with repair costs to the home and adaptations to suit needs.
By paying large, unexpected bills or replacing necessary items of equipment in the home.
By paying removal costs, advance deposits before moving, etc.
By offering some assistance with costs of home care or a single payment towards residential care.
